Requirements:

• 10+ years of product management experience, with 3+ years focused on technical platforms or APIs (fintech/payments experience highly preferred).
• Deep understanding of payment processing and financial systems.
• Familiarity with payment APIs and flows such as credit card processing and merchant onboarding.
• Knowledge of the payments ecosystem (gateways, processors, card networks, ledgers) and relevant compliance/security (PCI, NACHA rules, card scheme mandates).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent technical experience). Able to comfortably discuss architectural concepts, API frameworks, and integration details with engineers.
• Passion for developer experience – you empathize with API consumers and strive to make integration easy and frictionless.
• Experience producing or consuming developer documentation and crafting user-friendly APIs/SDKs.
• Comfortable defining product KPIs and using analytics or logging data to guide decisions.
• Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail; able to analyze usage patterns or debug issues, and work with data/engineering teams to resolve them.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Able to articulate complex technical concepts in plain language for different audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and build consensus without direct authority.
• Experience working in agile development environments, driving teams towards results.
• Self-starter who takes initiative and ownership. You do whatever it takes to make your product and team successful, whether that means diving into a QA test, analyzing a support ticket, or writing a draft of API docs.
• Thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and can juggle multiple priorities.

Responsibilities:

• Define and execute the product roadmap for our payment APIs, prioritizing features that enable seamless merchant onboarding, transaction processing, and payouts.
• Work closely with engineering to design APIs and SDKs that are intuitive for developers and adhere to best practices.
• Champion the needs of developers using our APIs. Create a world-class developer experience with thorough documentation, self-service tools, sample apps, and sandboxes for testing. Act as the voice of the developer in all product discussions, and gather direct feedback to drive continuous improvements in usability.
• Partner with cross-functional teams – Engineering (for technical trade-offs and architecture), Design/UX (to ensure smooth integration flows), Operations/Support (to understand common issues), and Sales/Merchant Success (for go-to-market strategy) – to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Drive the product development lifecycle from concept to launch. Write clear product requirements, user stories, and technical specifications. Oversee releases of new API features, ensuring proper testing (QA) and quality before rollout.
• Define key success metrics for the payment APIs (e.g. API uptime, latency, error rates, adoption by developers, transaction success rates). Monitor product performance and usage analytics, and use data insights to identify improvement opportunities or inform feature prioritization.
• Engage with key customers and partners to understand their payment flows, use cases, and pain points. Work directly with client developers and product teams to ensure our API solutions meet their requirements and provide a superior experience. Serve as a subject-matter expert on our payment API capabilities in customer discussions and incorporate their feedback into the product roadmap.
