Database Administrator (Azure)

Proficiency with Microsoft Azure database services (Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance) Strong knowledge of SQL Server Administration, performance tuning, indexing strategies, and T-SQL scripting Familiarity with database security best practices and compliance standards (healthcare preferred, e.g., HIPAA) Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues quickly Scripting experience using PowerShell or Python for automation Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience 5-7 years of professional experience as a Database Administrator with Azure focus Experience supporting large-scale database systems and critical infrastructure Hands-on experience with data warehousing concepts and ETL pipeline design/troubleshooting Experience developing and implementing database backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes

Lead and execute the migration of database systems to an internally managed Azure SQL environment Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable, and high-performing database systems on Azure Monitor database performance, conduct tuning and optimization, and proactively address bottlenecks Develop and manage backup and disaster recovery strategies Implement and maintain database security protocols, user access controls, and compliance requirements (e.g., HIPPA) Collaborate with software development teams on data needs and database efficiency Create and maintain documentation for database systems and procedures Participate in database capacity planning Support data warehousing, ETL pipelines, and analytics tools like Azure Databricks Leverage automation tools (PowerShell, Python) for database management tasks
