Senior Database Administrator

5+ years of experience in Database Administration. BS or advanced degree in computer science or related field. Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, Redshift, DynamoDB, BigQuery, MongoDB, Cassandra, Snowflake). Deep understanding of AWS Database services (RDS, Aurora, Redshift, DynamoDB). Ability to use tools for performance bottleneck identification and optimization. Experience with modern monitoring tools (Cloudwatch, DataDog). Experience managing change management practices, policies, and procedures. Experience with infrastructure automation, systems reliability, load balancing, monitoring, logging. Experience working in and architecting for regulated environments with data privacy regulations (GDPR, HIPAA preferred). Strong scripting skills in SQL, Python, Shell.

Manage and maintain PostgreSQL, DynamoDB and Athena databases on AWS. Monitor database performance and health, resolving issues proactively. Design and implement database growth strategies. Develop and implement high security standards for sensitive data. Ensure compliance with database privacy regulations (HIPAA, SOC2). Design and implement Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans. Develop a pipeline to restore anonymized data to lower environments. Collaborate with security team on risk analysis for data infrastructure. Provide architectural design recommendations for database environment adaptation. Collaborate with Data Engineering on ETL jobs. Support software development teams with coding practices and query tuning.
