Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in public sector sales, enterprise partnerships, business development, capture management, government affairs, or related roles.
  • Significant experience selling to state and local government organizations, ideally involving complex programs or public services.
  • Proven ability to manage long sales cycles, including multi-year agreements and high-value enterprise deals.
  • Experience building or improving sales motions, playbooks, and operational processes from the ground up.
  • Strong understanding of government procurement processes, RFP/RFI responses, and stakeholder engagement strategies.
  • Ability to balance strategic relationship-building with hands-on execution and deal ownership.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to engage senior government stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment with a high level of ownership.
  • Mission-oriented mindset and genuine interest in creating positive outcomes for underserved communities.
  • Experience in gov-tech, public-sector technology, or organizations serving complex government systems is preferred.
  • Existing relationships with government stakeholders, procurement teams, or relevant public-sector networks are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Own enterprise sales cycles from qualification and pipeline development through proposals, procurement navigation, negotiation, and closing.
  • Build and manage a structured sales pipeline with disciplined forecasting across long government sales cycles.
  • Develop procurement strategies, including responses to RFPs and RFIs, competitive positioning, and approaches for navigating government purchasing processes.
  • Design pricing, packaging, and partnership structures that align with customer needs, procurement requirements, and organizational goals.
  • Establish repeatable sales processes, playbooks, and operating systems that enable future team growth.
  • Partner with internal teams to translate market opportunities into effective partnership strategies and customer solutions.
  • Build trusted relationships with government leaders, procurement stakeholders, and key decision-makers.
  • Represent the organization at state capitals, industry events, and relevant convenings to strengthen market presence.
