Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering, Construction, or a related technical field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of project coordination or management experience on large structural steel building projects ($5MM - $40MM CAD range).
  • Experience in both conventional and pre-engineered structural steel within heavy or light industrial settings.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contract types (lump sum, time & materials, cost plus) and ability to enforce contract terms.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting contract language and construction drawings.
  • Strong understanding of project QC requirements and implementation of inspection test plans.
  • Fluency in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Access to a private workspace with high-quality internet connectivity for video and phone calls.
  • PMP designation or project management coursework is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate multiple construction projects, liaising with owners, consulting engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Develop, update, and present project schedules using MS Project.
  • Monitor project progress against schedules, identifying critical path items and managing material/manpower deliveries.
  • Control and process project documentation, including site instructions, RFIs, change orders, and shop drawings.
  • Maintain QA/QC documentation and records for all testing and inspections.
  • Estimate project scopes, plan and track change orders, and negotiate pricing with vendors.
  • Supervise structural steel design engineers to ensure they remain on task, within budget, and on schedule.
  • Report project status, including budget, risk, and cash flow, to management on a biweekly basis.
