Requirements
- Significant professional experience in software engineering.
- Experience writing, testing, and deploying robust backend services using strongly typed languages.
- Hands-on experience working with AWS and/or GCP.
- Proficiency with Kubernetes.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform).
- Strong understanding of modern distributed application scaling and failure patterns.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with ambiguity.
- Strong aptitude for problem-solving through automation.
- A platform-focused mindset dedicated to improving developer experience, reliability, and performance.
Responsibilities
- Build and centrally manage cloud infrastructure underpinning Monzo's technology stack.
- Run and maintain Kubernetes clusters, service mesh (Envoy), and networking for microservices.
- Develop and maintain backend services (APIs, controllers) to provide self-service tooling for other engineers.
- Perform infrastructure migrations and manage high-scale traffic and security tooling.
- Automate cloud resource management using Terraform.
- Collaborate with backend engineers and cloud infrastructure experts to solve complex system scaling and failure problems.
