Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4–7 years of experience in revenue accounting, contract accounting, invoicing, and accounts receivable.
  • Strong working knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition guidance and its application to service-based arrangements.
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting complex customer contracts, MSAs, SOWs, and multiple-element arrangements.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis and reconciliations.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Big 4 or public accounting/audit experience preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with NetSuite or similar ERP systems preferred.
  • CPA or CPA-track preferred.
  • Experience within professional services, consulting, life sciences, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical industries preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Apply ASC 606 guidance to evaluate and recognize revenue for consulting, project-based, fixed-fee, T&M, FTE, milestone-based, and multi-element service arrangements.
  • Review customer contracts, Master Service Agreements (MSAs), Statements of Work (SOWs), amendments, and change orders to assess revenue recognition implications, billing terms, variable consideration, and contract modifications.
  • Analyze and identify multiple performance obligations within customer contracts and determine appropriate revenue allocation and timing of recognition.
  • Prepare and review customer invoices for accuracy and compliance with contractual terms.
  • Manage accounts receivable, including monitoring aging reports, following up on past-due balances, and supporting collection efforts.
  • Perform monthly revenue and AR reconciliations, deferred revenue analysis, and support month-end and quarter-end close activities.
  • Maintain revenue and AR accounting records within NetSuite.
  • Support external audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Operations, and Project Management teams to resolve billing and revenue recognition issues.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve revenue accounting processes, internal controls, and system automation.
