Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in estimating or operations within the spray seal, road construction, or civil pavement industry.
- Solid working knowledge of spray seal operations including binder types (bitumen, emulsions), aggregate specifications, application rates, and plant requirements.
- Understanding of traffic management requirements and their cost implications.
- Proficiency in Salesforce CRM or similar estimating/project management platforms.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for cost modelling, rate schedules, and quantity take-offs.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate estimates under deadline pressure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple quotes simultaneously, and adapt to shifting project priorities.
- Familiarity with Australian standards for sprayed sealing works (AGPT/T190) is preferred.
- Experience estimating for local council or government road maintenance programs is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for spray seal projects including binder types, aggregate supply, plant, labour, and traffic management.
- Generate quotes using client-provided takeoff data and project documents within Salesforce.
- Apply current market rates for materials and factor in haulage, mobilization, and site-specific conditions.
- Manage the end-to-end estimating pipeline in Salesforce, tracking quote status and documentation.
- Assist in the preparation of formal tender submissions and contract bids.
- Coordinate with suppliers, plant operators, and traffic management contractors to confirm pricing.
- Liaise with the Operations Manager and field teams to clarify project scope and site constraints.
