Requirements
- 3–5+ years of experience in medical billing and RCM.
- Experience within the Durable Medical Equipment (DME) or HME industry.
- Familiarity with monthly rental billing, capped rentals, and equipment return workflows.
- Strong understanding of HCPCS codes, ICD-10 coding, CMNs, and Prior Authorizations.
- Startup mindset with ability to help build processes.
- Exceptional phone etiquette and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Billing Systems such as Niko Health or BrightTree.
- Experience with CRM and Payer Portals such as Availity.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit clean electronic and paper claims to various payers.
- Monitor and aggressively pursue unpaid claims.
- Investigate claim denials, gather necessary medical documentation, and draft appeals.
- Accurately post insurance payments, patient payments, and contractual adjustments.
- Oversee the monthly patient billing cycle and ensure statements are accurate.
- Act as the primary point of contact for inbound calls regarding billing inquiries.
- Review and process patient financial assistance applications.
- Help create and document standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Identify trends in denials or payer behavior to provide feedback.
- Assist in refining billing software workflows to increase efficiency.
