Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible mechanical and HVAC engineering experience.
- Must hold a Registered Architect (RA) or Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
- Strong understanding of mechanical codes, standards, and engineering practices, including ASHRAE and IMC guidelines.
- Experience producing technical documentation, comment matrices, engineering assessments, and decision-support analyses.
- Proficiency with common engineering and productivity tools, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience supporting federal facilities projects, including planning, design, renovation, or sustainment activities.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly.
Responsibilities
- Review mechanical and HVAC design documents, calculations, and technical submissions to assess completeness, constructability, and alignment with applicable requirements.
- Provide written technical comments, recommendations, and proposed resolutions for identified issues.
- Support facility condition assessments by analyzing mechanical system documentation, identifying deficiencies, and recommending corrective actions.
- Conduct technical research and evaluations related to HVAC performance, ventilation, energy efficiency, and indoor air quality.
- Develop and review equipment schedules, operational sequences, and engineering option analyses.
- Prepare technical inputs for statements of work, performance requirements, acceptance criteria, and evaluation documentation.
- Coordinate with architectural and engineering teams to identify system interfaces, integration challenges, and design considerations.
- Support commissioning activities, closeout documentation reviews, verification processes, and deficiency tracking.
- Create technical briefings, decision-support materials, and executive summaries for stakeholders.
