Requirements

  • Approximately 7 years of experience in communications, public relations, internal communications, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to write, edit, and publish materials for executives, employees, and media audiences.
  • Experience supporting media relations programs, including drafting press materials and preparing spokespeople.
  • Strong ability to translate complex technical, business, or policy topics into clear, compelling messages.
  • Strong judgment, discretion, and ability to handle sensitive, confidential, or rapidly evolving information.
  • Excellent task management skills to handle multiple deadlines and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel (approx. 25%) for events, conferences, and engagements.
  • Ability to provide hands-on event and social media support in a lean team environment.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents).
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key communications and culture leader, helping strengthen trust, engagement, alignment, and connection to Ursa Major's mission.
  • Draft and edit high-quality communications materials across internal and external channels, including press releases, media pitches, blogs, and executive talking points.
  • Translate complex aerospace, propulsion, and defense topics into clear, accessible messages for various audiences.
  • Support external communications strategy, including media relations and executive visibility, in partnership with the Head of Marketing and Communications.
  • Lead internal communications for company-wide updates, organizational changes, and programs that shape the employee experience.
  • Partner with People Operations, Legal, and executive leadership to ensure coordinated, credible internal information flow.
  • Support social media, events, and tradeshows as a member of a lean marketing and communications team.
  • Travel as needed to support tradeshows, company events, and customer engagements.
  • Execute crisis and issues communications planning, including drafting holding statements and leadership messages during sensitive situations.
