Requirements

  • Native-level or JLPT N1-level Japanese proficiency.
  • Business-level English proficiency.
  • Proven experience designing and developing complex financial systems or high-scale transactional platforms.
  • Strong understanding of accounting concepts, ledger structures, double-entry accounting, and transaction reconciliation.
  • Experience building highly available, scalable applications handling multi-currency transactions.
  • Strong knowledge of financial APIs, market data integrations, and trade settlement processes.
  • Experience working with regulatory requirements in financial markets, preferably within Japan.
  • Proficiency in at least one statically typed programming language such as Go, Rust, Java, Kotlin, C#, Scala, or C++.
  • Strong software architecture skills, including experience with domain-driven design and event-driven design.
  • Experience developing distributed systems and designing reliable backend infrastructure.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals and advanced problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement highly scalable, mission-critical brokerage systems tailored to Japanese market requirements.
  • Develop and maintain backend services, including microservices, APIs, and third-party integrations supporting financial operations.
  • Build and enhance middle-office and back-office systems using technologies such as gRPC services, REST APIs, and distributed architectures.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve core frameworks and enable support for multiple markets, currencies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Translate Japan-specific financial requirements, regulations, and partner needs into technical specifications for global engineering teams.
  • Work with local regulators, vendors, and business stakeholders in Japanese to ensure successful technical alignment.
  • Develop solutions supporting market-specific requirements such as investment products, accounting standards, identity verification, and tax-related workflows.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, maintain system reliability, and participate in operational support during Japan business hours.
