Requirements
- Native or JLPT N1 level Japanese fluency.
- Business-level English fluency for collaboration and documentation.
- Proven experience designing complex financial systems, preferably with double-entry accounting.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, ledger structures, and transaction reconciliation.
- Experience building scalable, high-availability financial applications handling multi-currency transactions.
- Familiarity with financial regulatory compliance, preferably Japan-specific (FIEA, FSA, JSDA, JIPF).
- Proficiency in at least one statically typed language (e.g., Go, Rust, Java, Kotlin, C#, Scala, or C++).
- Experience with financial APIs, market data, and trade settlement processes.
- Strong computer science fundamentals and software architecture experience.
- Ability to work independently in a globally distributed, fully remote environment.
- Experience with domain-driven design and event-driven design.
Responsibilities
- Design highly scalable, mission-critical brokerage systems for the Japan market.
- Develop and enhance middle- and back-office systems, including gRPC microservices and REST APIs.
- Integrate with Japan-specific market infrastructure (e.g., JPX, JSCC, JASDEC, banks, and identity vendors).
- Collaborate with global teams to transform core frameworks for Japan-specific requirements like NISA and JP-GAAP accounting.
- Coordinate with local regulators, vendors, and business stakeholders in Japanese and translate into technical specifications.
- Troubleshoot incidents and participate in on-call rotations during Japan business hours.
