- 7–10 years of relevant professional experience within higher education systems, supporting undocumented student access and success.
- 3–5 years of people management experience, including direct supervision and team development.
- 5–7 years of demonstrated expertise in California higher education systems, focusing on access, persistence, and completion.
- 3–5 years of experience working within California colleges, universities, and partners to advance inclusive practices.
- 3–5 years of experience overseeing grant-funded programs, including accountability for deliverables and compliance.
- Proven ability to lead complex program portfolios bridging direct services and systems-adjacent work.
- Strong facilitation, communication, and partnership-building skills.
- Commitment to immigrant rights and personal connection to the undocumented experience.
- Ability to travel (20% of the time) including local, California, and U.S. travel.
Responsibilities
- Set and advance a cohesive higher education strategy aligned to institutional partnerships and student success goals.
- Identify opportunities to adapt higher education models based on student needs and field-level trends.
- Serve as a senior programmatic leader advancing the higher education agenda across advocacy campaigns and coalitions.
- Partner with policy, research, and communication teams to align programming with broader economic mobility goals.
- Build and lead a high-performing team including staff, fellows, and consultants.
- Oversee grant-funded initiatives to ensure deliverables, reporting, and compliance requirements are met.
- Manage departmental budget and infrastructure to ensure fiscal responsibility and effective execution.
