Requirements

  • 10+ years in software/integration engineering, with deep, demonstrated expertise building HL7v2 and FHIR integrations in production healthcare environments.
  • Must be based in the USA.
  • Availability to travel within the USA as needed for customer onboarding, go-lives, and on-site integration work.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major EHR's interface/API surface (Epic, Oracle Health/Cerner, athenahealth, or MEDITECH).
  • Production experience with InterSystems IRIS or a comparable engine (Mirth/NextGen Connect, Rhapsody, Cloverleaf).
  • Strong programming skills in Python, with comfort in JavaScript/TypeScript or Java/Groovy.
  • Solid understanding of healthcare clinical terminologies (LOINC, SNOMED CT, ICD-10, CPT, RxNorm) and patient matching.
  • Extensive experience working in a highly compliant environment under HIPAA/HITECH, SOC 2, and HITRUST controls.
  • Experience coordinating multiple engineers or parallel workstreams across concurrent customers.
  • Knowledge of integration connectivity and security: MLLP, SFTP, REST, OAuth2/SMART, TLS/mTLS.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build resilient, bidirectional integrations with major EHRs (Epic, Oracle Health/Cerner, athenahealth, MEDITECH, TruBridge/CPSI, Veradigm/Allscripts, eClinicalWorks, NextGen).
  • Implement and maintain HL7v2 interfaces and FHIR R4 / US Core integrations.
  • Build and operate integration pipelines on InterSystems IRIS or via aggregators like Redox, Health Gorilla, or 1upHealth.
  • Handle C-CDA documents, X12 transactions, and connectivity layers (MLLP, SFTP, TLS, VPN, OAuth2).
  • Navigate EHR vendor programs, including registration, security review, and go-live.
  • Own reliability of the integration estate, including monitoring, message reconciliation, and PHI handling.
  • Support customer and partner due-diligence and security reviews to facilitate production access.
  • Coordinate multiple parallel, demand-driven integration teams and act as the technical authority on interoperability.
