Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience managing coalitions or groups representing diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven track record leading successful local- or state-level public advocacy campaigns and organizing related to democracy, elections, voting rights, and civil rights.
  • Experience managing and developing a team, setting strategic direction, and building a unified approach.
  • Knowledge of national political dynamics and experience with funders and decision-makers at the national level.
  • Track record of leading organization-wide change initiatives.
  • Ability to compel action through written and verbal communication and navigate complex organizational dynamics.
  • Ability to travel 4-5 times per month to Georgia, Wisconsin, Washington DC, and other locations.
  • Willingness to maintain a social media presence on behalf of the organization.
  • Must not currently hold elected office, be running for office, or be affiliated with political party leadership.
  • Proficiency with office productivity tools including Microsoft Office and Zoom.
  • Ideally possess familiarity with state legislative processes such as policy research or advocacy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead 2026 election protection field programs in Georgia and Wisconsin.
  • Develop and execute election protection plans and strategy for the November election.
  • Lead state coalition meetings and working groups to drive organizational strategy.
  • Act as a spokesperson for Common Cause, including media appearances and representing the organization in coalition spaces.
  • Manage election protection organizers in Georgia and Wisconsin, setting goals and providing coaching.
  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of state programs in partnership with leadership.
  • Develop strategy to communicate impact to funders and coalition partners.
  • Convene cross-state learning sessions for staff and promote alignment across organization teams.
