Requirements
- Proven experience in engineering management leading teams through real delivery.
- Strong backend engineering background with proficiency in strongly-typed languages (e.g., Java/Spring Boot).
- Experience leading distributed, remote-first teams across time zones.
- Deep understanding of high-volume distributed systems, including consistency models, fault tolerance, and reliability patterns.
- Experience with microservices in a cloud-native environment (AWS preferred).
- Expertise in relational database engineering at scale, specifically transactions and write performance.
- Experience with event-driven and asynchronous systems.
- Fintech or banking domain experience, particularly with high-volume transaction processing.
- Ability to define and hold technical direction and clear communication with non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Accounts team (9 engineers) through the ledger split and team restructuring.
- Define technical seams for ledger writes, consistency guarantees, and schema ownership.
- Set long-term engineering direction for the Ledger Team regarding performance and availability.
- Own system stability, SLOs, observability, and on-call practices.
- Partner with product, compliance, and internal operations to ensure compliant and supportable builds.
- Mentor and grow engineers across early-career through senior levels.
- Align with other engineering managers on cross-cutting banking infrastructure.
