Requirements
- Degree or tertiary qualification in accounting.
- CA or CPA qualified, or in the final stages of completion.
- 5+ years of experience in SMSF returns, including LRBA structures and SMSF property investments.
- Demonstrated experience reviewing SMSF returns and workpapers.
- Experience managing or mentoring accounting staff.
- Strong, demonstrated working knowledge of Class Super (essential).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Windows, and practice management software (e.g., XPM, CAS).
- BGL Simple Fund 360 experience is highly regarded.
- Proven ability to work independently in a remote, offshore setting.
- Excellent time management, problem-solving skills, and sound technical judgment.
- Ability to work during Australian business hours (AEST).
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the workflow of Senior and Junior Accountants, allocating jobs and monitoring capacity.
- Review SMSF returns, financial statements, and workpapers prepared by the team.
- Provide day-to-day technical support, resolve queries, and serve as an escalation point.
- Mentor, train, and develop staff to build technical capability within the team.
- Manage compliance for property investments within SMSFs, including LRBA structures.
- Liaise with external auditors to resolve audit queries and issues.
- Collaborate with internal financial advisors regarding client SMSF strategies.
- Report on team workflow, capacity, and job status to the Accounting Manager.
