Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
- Ten years of experience in casualty claims adjusting or related experience, including large and complex claims.
- Prior leadership experience.
- Attainment of all applicable state licenses as required.
- Advanced knowledge of insurance terms and coverages in commercial lines.
- Excellent understanding of casualty claims techniques and knowledge of various jurisdictions.
- Advanced knowledge of negotiation and alternative dispute resolution techniques.
- Advanced investigative and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to gather and analyze data points for claims triage.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle report.
- INS, AIC, or CPCU designations preferred.
Responsibilities
- Leads a complex casualty claims team, overseeing high-severity commercial casualty claims.
- Reviews assigned claim files, identifies gaps, and ensures complete fact gathering.
- Assigns claims based on adjuster expertise and provides strategic direction on handling.
- Advises team on coverage, liability, compensability, valuation, and resolution strategy.
- Selects and manages defense counsel and monitors litigated matters.
- Ensures accurate, timely reserves and authorizes payments within authority.
- Monitors team workload, productivity, and performance metrics.
- Coaches team members, drives development, and handles hiring and disciplinary actions.
- Partners with underwriting and marketing to educate agents and enhance customer experience.
