Requirements
- 12+ years of experience in product design, design systems, design technology, or front-end development.
- Significant experience leading complex, large-scale systems or platform initiatives.
- 5+ years of people management experience leading senior staff or multidisciplinary teams.
- Deep expertise in building, scaling, or transforming design systems for complex, multi-product organizations.
- Strong product judgment with the ability to connect design work to business impact and customer value.
- Exceptional systems thinking to identify and codify patterns across varied product workflows.
- High standards across interaction design, information architecture, visual design, and accessibility.
- Proven ability to influence senior partners and drive quality without relying on mandates.
- Strong technical fluency in component architecture, design tokens, and front-end implementation.
- Experience defining lifecycle, governance, and contribution models for shared product systems.
- Clear vision on the future of design systems, including the role of AI and design technology.
- Portfolio demonstrating design leadership, systems strategy, and organizational impact.
Responsibilities
- Define and drive the vision for Dropbox’s next generation design system and experience platform.
- Lead Design Systems and Design Technology as a center of excellence for front-end quality and consistency.
- Build and evolve reusable product patterns for navigation, collaboration, sharing, and AI-assisted experiences.
- Transition the team from a reactive model to proactive leadership by identifying horizontal product needs.
- Manage the full lifecycle of shared components, including discovery, design, adoption, and maintenance.
- Partner with cross-functional leadership to align design system efforts with product strategy.
- Develop and mentor a team of designers, design technologists, and systems specialists.
- Collaborate with engineering leadership to ensure design intent is translated into high-quality code and infrastructure.
- Establish governance and contribution models to support continuous system evolution.
