Requirements
- 10+ years of product design experience with a strong portfolio.
- 4+ years of experience leading and managing design or research teams at a product company.
- Background in B2B or enterprise products, ideally in an AI-native environment.
- Experience designing for AI-native or AI-augmented products.
- Demonstrated ability in people management with a focus on trust and career advocacy.
- Comfort working at the intersection of design and code, including functional prototyping.
- Exceptional UI and visual design judgment.
- Experience deploying strategic research to make findings actionable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder influence.
- Ability to manage team needs in a high-pressure, fast-moving environment.
Responsibilities
- Own and uphold how design and research work at Stack Overflow including the process, tooling, standards, and craft.
- Own the user experience perspective on how technologists discover and interact with knowledge.
- Maintain the highest standards of design craft and research quality across every product surface.
- Evolve the team’s AI-first design practice and maintain the pipeline from concept to production-ready code.
- Own and run team rituals to elevate quality and develop designers and researchers.
- Coach designers and researchers in career growth and skill development.
- Build a high-trust, feedback-driven culture with autonomy and accountability.
- Represent the user perspective within product strategy leadership.
- Work alongside Product and Engineering leaders to shape software development in an AI-first world.
- Build and maintain research infrastructure that drives decision-making.
