Requirements
- 10+ years of experience building and shipping production systems at scale.
- Demonstrated ability to own outcomes across teams, not just individual slices.
- Experience setting the standard for how AI is used in real engineering work.
- Deep backend fundamentals and system-design range.
- Experience shipping production Ruby on Rails, or equivalent expertise in Python/Django or Node.js with the ability to ramp up on Rails quickly.
- Strong technical judgment to evaluate AI output and mentor others in doing the same.
- Ability to communicate complex technical bets clearly to both engineers and executives.
- Strong opinions on product and architecture, with the ability to work as a peer to product and design stakeholders.
- Experience working in an AI-forward development environment.
Responsibilities
- Take fuzzy business needs through design, build, and production across pod boundaries with minimal handoffs.
- Set the standard for high-quality AI-assisted engineering and use AI tools as force multipliers.
- Make architectural calls that span services and teams, balancing speed, quality, and maintainability.
- Partner directly with product, design, and data teams as a technical collaborator.
- Mentor engineers through code review, design feedback, and investment in their problem-solving processes.
- Identify and fix gaps in the organization's ways of working.
