Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or an equivalent field.
- 5+ years of experience working in a corporate tax environment or public accounting firm.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of tax accounting principles.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Experience working in a regulated environment.
- Knowledge of tax software systems and web-based tax compliance/research tools.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or eligibility to sit for the CPA exam is preferred.
- Prior insurance industry experience is preferred.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to prioritize multiple complex tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and/or review Statutory income tax accounting, reporting, and investment tax adjustments.
- Manage state and local tax compliance, including Premium, Municipal, Sales and Use, Income, Franchise, Property, and Excise taxes.
- Oversee the outsourcing process with accounting firms for state tax compliance.
- Maintain tax technology systems, including configuration, upgrades, troubleshooting, and automation initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to enhance tax operational efficiency and system reliability.
- Conduct tax research and prepare quarterly management reporting for state and local tax obligations.
