Requirements
- Minimum seven years of loan underwriting experience, ideally in commercial underwriting and analysis within a financial institution.
- Working knowledge of commercial lending and deposit account procedures.
- Proficiency in commercial and personal financial statement analysis.
- Experience with credit approval/annual review memorandums and commercial loan documentation.
- Knowledge of lending regulations.
- Strong interpersonal communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to organize work to meet designated deadlines.
- Effective use of office machines and data processing systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field (preferred).
- RMA Lending Certifications (preferred).
- Subject Matter Expert level understanding of accounting, business finance, and commercial real estate finance (preferred).
- Experience with Abrigo Sageworks financial software or equivalent (preferred).
Responsibilities
- Support Commercial Loan Officers in managing existing commercial credit relationships and developing new ones.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for existing borrowing relationships.
- Ensure timely annual reviews and document performance against covenants and conditions.
- Assist in monitoring and developing action plans for deteriorating credit relationships.
- Collect and analyze data to create periodic loan review memorandums with risk recommendations.
- Underwrite, structure, and document new loan and modification requests for complex client relationships.
- Manage relationships with loan participation partners.
- Identify cross-sell opportunities for credit union products and services.
- Perform due diligence including review of financial, legal, and entity documents.
- Support training for Commercial Portfolio Managers and provide reports on risk and portfolio allocation.
