Requirements

  • 5–8 years of HR generalist experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience at a startup or high-growth tech company (Series A–C).
  • Hands-on experience with a PEO environment such as Justworks or Rippling.
  • Solid grounding in US employment law and comfort with multi-state complexity.
  • Excellent written communication skills for drafting and documentation.
  • High degree of discretion and emotional intelligence for handling sensitive information.
  • Experience supporting pre-litigation HR matters or working with employment counsel.
  • Experience with AI tools like Claude for drafting and research.
  • Familiarity with automation tools like Google Apps Script or Zapier.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the employee lifecycle in the PEO (Justworks) including onboarding, offboarding, and leaves.
  • Maintain compliance calendars, state registrations, and update company handbooks across jurisdictions.
  • Administer benefit programs and serve as the liaison to benefits brokers and the PEO.
  • Support offer letter creation and compensation benchmarking using Pave.
  • Handle day-to-day employee relations issues including PIPs, accommodations, and conflict resolution.
  • Draft and manage separation agreements and maintain documentation for pre-litigation matters.
  • Support managers through performance cycles, calibrations, and difficult conversations.
  • Manage HRIS data integrity and reporting cadence regarding headcount and attrition.
