Requirements
- 5–8 years of HR generalist experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience at a startup or high-growth tech company (Series A–C).
- Hands-on experience with a PEO environment such as Justworks or Rippling.
- Solid grounding in US employment law and comfort with multi-state complexity.
- Excellent written communication skills for drafting and documentation.
- High degree of discretion and emotional intelligence for handling sensitive information.
- Experience supporting pre-litigation HR matters or working with employment counsel.
- Experience with AI tools like Claude for drafting and research.
- Familiarity with automation tools like Google Apps Script or Zapier.
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification is a strong plus.
Responsibilities
- Manage the employee lifecycle in the PEO (Justworks) including onboarding, offboarding, and leaves.
- Maintain compliance calendars, state registrations, and update company handbooks across jurisdictions.
- Administer benefit programs and serve as the liaison to benefits brokers and the PEO.
- Support offer letter creation and compensation benchmarking using Pave.
- Handle day-to-day employee relations issues including PIPs, accommodations, and conflict resolution.
- Draft and manage separation agreements and maintain documentation for pre-litigation matters.
- Support managers through performance cycles, calibrations, and difficult conversations.
- Manage HRIS data integrity and reporting cadence regarding headcount and attrition.
