Requirements
- 10+ years of claims handling experience.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Professional designations preferred.
- Strong understanding of coverage, policy interpretation, exposure recognition, and liability determination.
- Ability to work independently in a home-based environment.
- State licensing or certification as required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations for loss evaluations.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Investigate coverage and cause of loss through policy review and gathering investigative documentation.
- Review, evaluate, and negotiate bodily injury and liability claims with represented and unrepresented parties.
- Manage litigation and assign vendor resources such as independent adjusters and engineers.
- Prepare written settlement letters, disclaimers, and reservation of rights letters.
- Monitor claim files and maintain diary systems to ensure timely disposition.
- Identify and escalate complex claims to management when they exceed settlement authority.
