Requirements

  • RHIT, RHIA, or CCS certification.
  • Associates Degree in a healthcare-related field.
  • Five years of coding experience and/or two years in auditing.
  • Awareness of the financial impact of denials.
  • Knowledge of APC reimbursement (Outpatient).
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Proficiency with coding software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Strong critical thinking, interpersonal, planning, and time management skills.
  • Experience in education, training, and auditing.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with leadership to develop educational programs based on clinical dashboard results.
  • Identifies strategic plans to positively impact clinical dashboard metrics.
  • Secures interdepartmental support for education strategy initiatives.
  • Analyzes dashboard and audit data to construct action plans.
  • Collaborates with the Pre-bill team to identify education opportunities.
  • Onboards new staff on coding protocols.
  • Develops teaching tools to promote quality outcomes.
  • Performs monthly, quarterly, and/or yearly audits of coding and vendor staff.
  • Performs additional audits as requested by leadership.
