Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or similar; OR associate degree and 2 years experience; OR high school diploma and 4 years experience.
- 3+ years of progressive experience in mortgage underwriting.
- Advanced understanding of multiple loan products.
- Proven experience with Encompass.
- Proven experience with Microsoft Office 365.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong professional judgment.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and assess complex mortgage loan applications.
- Review borrower creditworthiness, income, assets, and property valuations.
- Make high-level underwriting decisions on approvals, counteroffers, or denials.
- Ensure all activities adhere to policies and federal/state regulations.
- Identify compliance gaps and recommend improvements.
- Provide training, guidance, and feedback to junior underwriters.
- Communicate with loan officers and processors to resolve complex issues.
- Contribute to policy updates and process enhancements.
