Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Safety Science, Safety Engineering, Safety Management, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of progressive safety leadership experience within distribution, fulfillment, logistics, manufacturing, automation, or related operational environments.
- Proven success managing multi-site safety programs across geographically dispersed operations with varying levels of complexity and risk.
- Strong experience conducting serious incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action management.
- Knowledge of robotics safety, machine guarding, lockout/tagout procedures, automation risk assessments, ergonomics, and human factors engineering.
- Experience supporting highly automated facilities, advanced material handling systems, or robotics-enabled operations.
- Familiarity with dangerous goods programs, food safety requirements, environmental compliance, DOT regulations, and regulated inventory categories.
- Experience utilizing safety management systems, incident management platforms, reporting tools, and analytics to drive data-based decisions.
- Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and change management capabilities with the ability to influence senior operational leaders.
- Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, CIH, CHMM, ARM, HACCP, PCQI, or equivalent credentials are highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Lead regional safety strategy and governance across multiple fulfillment and distribution facilities, ensuring alignment with operational goals and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as the primary safety advisor for site and regional leadership teams, providing guidance on risk mitigation, compliance, and operational decision-making.
- Develop and implement proactive safety programs using data analysis, risk assessments, behavioral observations, incident trends, and operational metrics.
- Evaluate the safety implications of new technologies, automation systems, robotics deployments, facility expansions, and process improvements before implementation.
- Conduct and oversee serious incident investigations, root cause analyses, corrective action plans, and accountability processes.
- Establish and maintain safety standards for diverse operational environments, including automated facilities, transportation operations, dangerous goods handling, food and beverage products, and other regulated inventory categories.
- Partner with engineering, operations, compliance, and third-party partners to embed safety principles into facility design, workflows, onboarding, and business initiatives.
- Monitor regulatory developments and emerging risks while recommending strategic investments and risk reduction initiatives to senior leadership.
- Exercise authority to escalate safety concerns, recommend operational controls, and initiate stop-work actions when necessary to prevent unacceptable risk exposure.
