Requirements
- Current AAPC or AHIMA Certification (held for minimum 3 years).
- Minimum 3+ years of professional coding experience.
- Strong working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10-CM.
- Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Knowledge of state and federal Medicare reimbursement guidelines.
- Experience in medical billing environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
- Strong research, analytical, and logical reasoning skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience with HIPAA compliance.
Responsibilities
- Review and resolve assigned front-end claim holds independently.
- Assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes with appropriate modifiers.
- Review medical records to determine accurate codes for services and diagnoses.
- Ensure diagnosis codes meet local and national medical necessity guidelines.
- Maintain a minimum of 90% coding accuracy.
- Participate in department and mentorship meetings.
- Escalate identified client trends and coding questions to the Coding Team Lead.
- Maintain current knowledge of laws, regulations, and payer policies.
