Requirements
- Current AAPC or AHIMA Certification held for a minimum of 3 years.
- Minimum of 3+ years of professional coding experience.
- Strong working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10-CM.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Understanding of state and federal Medicare reimbursement guidelines.
- Prior experience in a medical billing environment with HIPAA compliance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
- Ability to research and analyze data to resolve coding issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Independently review and resolve all assigned front-end claim holds.
- Assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes with appropriate modifiers.
- Review medical records to determine appropriate codes.
- Ensure diagnosis codes meet local and national medical necessity guidelines.
- Utilize internal coding resources and payer guidelines to ensure compliance.
- Maintain HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards.
- Monitor and maintain a minimum of 90% coding accuracy.
- Participate in department, one-on-one, and mentorship meetings.
- Escalate coding-related questions and client trends to team lead.
