Requirements
- 3+ years of engineering management experience.
- Experience leading distributed, remote engineering teams.
- Strong software engineering background with system architecture expertise.
- Solid command of the full software development lifecycle.
- Track record of delivering features on time with high quality.
- Experience working closely with Product Management.
- Effective communicator capable of representing the team to leadership.
- Experience with server-side languages and frameworks.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, source control, and project tracking.
- Familiarity with AI agentic coding tools like Claude Code or Cursor.
Responsibilities
- Lead and grow a team of software engineers contributing to Backblaze cloud services.
- Own the software development lifecycle: planning, design, implementation, and post-launch support.
- Contribute to feature development and infrastructure improvements.
- Ensure the reliability and maintainability of cloud service components.
- Participate hands-on in code reviews, architecture decisions, and technical problem-solving.
- Partner with Product Management to shape roadmap priorities and strategy.
- Work closely with QA and release engineering to ensure quality delivery.
- Champion the use of AI-assisted development tools and workflows.
- Identify bottlenecks and refine processes to improve team productivity.
- Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and lead hiring.
