Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation.
Ability to make decisions regarding liability, recovery, and overpayments.
Excellent communication skills — written & verbal.
Comfortable handling complex queries and sensitive situations.
Highly organised, accurate, and deadline-focused.
Strong IT skills and experience using online processing systems.

Responsibilities

Assess and process Housing Benefit & Council Tax Support claims.
Manage Council Tax & Non-Domestic Rates billing, recovery & enforcement.
Handle overpayments, refunds & payment arrangements.
Prepare cases for court or tribunal.
Respond to customer and stakeholder queries.
Ensure compliance with legislation, policy & DWP guidance.
Identify irregularities and escalate appropriately.
