Requirements
- 8+ years of progressive employee relations experience
- People management experience
- Proven track record of leading ER in a global context
- Ability to balance local nuance with global consistency in ER
- Experience influencing senior leaders and operating as a trusted advisor
- Demonstrated experience leading complex, high-risk investigations with minimal oversight
- Strong preference for experience in investigations both inside and outside the US
- In-depth understanding of all aspects of US employment laws, regulations, policies, principles, concepts and practices, including ADA, ADEA and FMLA
- Working knowledge of CA and NY employment laws and regulations
- Knowledge of and experience with global employment law in countries in which we do business
- Exceptional judgment, decision-making, writing, and executive communication skills
- Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, highly ambiguous environment
- Experience in high-growth, pre-IPO/IPO, or M&A environments (plus)
- Comfort with Google Workspace, Figma products, and Workday (plus)
Responsibilities
- Design Figma’s employee relations strategy in concert with the Director, People, and directly own the global execution of said strategy, such that it’s aligned with our company values, risk posture, and company growth plans
- Directly manage and develop a global team of 4 ER professionals that enhances ER capabilities across regions while balancing jurisdictional and cultural nuance with company norms
- Provide oversight and guidance on complex and sensitive investigations globally, and personally lead or co-lead the highest-risk investigations in partnership with Employment Legal
- Guide or advise on complex accommodation, leave, and/or performance matters in partnership with your team, Benefits, BEI, and Employment Legal
- Act as a strategic thought partner to People Partners and senior leadership on employee risk, performance management, and broader organizational health, with a demonstrated ability to balance legal risk, employee experience, and business realities with recommendations and decision-making
- Elevate manager capabilities in navigating employee matters such as performance concerns, interpersonal conflict, and other employee issues
- Own ER data hygiene, reporting, and trend analysis, and use insights to inform leadership decisions, resourcing, and policy evolution
- Operate with a continuous improvement mindset with regard to ER processes in a way that centers efficiency, scalability, and consistency
