Long Term Consultant: International Specialist: Food Safety Laboratory Specialist - ADB LAO Sustainable Agrifood Systems Sector Project

Tertiary qualifications in biology, biochemistry at bachelor level from an internationally recognized tertiary institution. Minimum of 10 years’ experience engaged in a food safety laboratory. Familiarity with the operations of a functioning analytical laboratory in food safety matters. Experience working in LAO PDR preferred. Experience working with ADB preferred. Experience working in ASEAN countries (particularly in Lao PDR, Vietnam, and Cambodia) considered an advantage. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint). Advanced proficiency in Excel is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking. Fluent in English (written and spoken). Thai or Lao language skills preferred.

Provide technical inputs on climate resilience to consultant ToRs. Develop climate change profiles for project provinces and districts. Develop recommendations for climate adaptation approaches. Develop and implement a strategy for integrating climate risk information into project decision-making. Develop and implement a strategy for coordinating with relevant linked climate change activities. Support the project in establishing and promoting climate resilient production techniques. Develop and use eligibility framework and checklists for assessing subprojects for climate-resilient designs. Provide technical inputs on the design of the baseline study and support MEL plan implementation. Periodically produce project briefs documenting good practices and lessons learned.
