Responsibilities:
Lead legislative and policy efforts for the (Un)warranted initiative, developing strategy and action plans. Collaborate with advocates to design state-specific plans. Promote laws and policies based on scientific evidence and best practices. Translate data and behavioral insights into policy recommendations and legislative language. Examine state statutes, policy, and landscape to implement model practices. Expand and cultivate relationships with stakeholders across the political spectrum. Collaborate with organizations to amplify efforts and enact policy changes. Provide strategic and technical expertise for policy change. Identify target states through power mapping and landscape analysis. Track and interpret statutes to assess impact and identify opportunities. Engage state stakeholders for widespread adoption and federal policymakers to encourage state-level action. Conduct research on messaging with policymakers and court officials. Create and disseminate materials supporting policy change and implementation. Communicate work through various channels to raise awareness. Partner with the implementation team to engage and troubleshoot. Support fundraising efforts as needed. Build and manage an advocacy team as funding allows.
