Senior Researcher, Mechanism Design

Excellent knowledge of mechanisms and policies in existing blockchains with strong opinions on their strengths and weaknesses. Knowledge of transaction ordering/MEV, staking and economic security, consensus mechanisms, spam prevention, and trustlessness/decentralization. Excellent knowledge of major DeFi primitives. Excellent technical communication skills. Extreme technical curiosity. Attention to detail. Creativity. Resourcefulness and independence. Clarity of thought. Enthusiasm about learning and teaching. Enthusiasm for Monad’s mission. Previous experience at a L1 or L2 blockchain protocol (nice to have). Experience with applied cryptography (nice to have). Experience with distributed systems (nice to have). Experience with game theory (nice to have). Ability to code, e.g. for implementing simulations (nice to have).

Design and evaluate mechanisms optimizing for economic security, decentralization, performance, compatibility, and ease of use. Evaluate potential attack vectors and mitigation strategies. Advise on technical merits of potential partner systems. Stay up-to-date on mechanism design in other blockchains and develop opinions. Collaborate with the engineering team to design and test new mechanism options. Write about findings for internal and public audiences.
