Requirements

  • 7+ years of operations leadership experience, including recruiting and people operations.
  • Proven experience scaling a people or recruiting function through significant headcount growth.
  • Experience managing people, building high-performance teams, and developing individual contributors and managers.
  • Expertise in owning end-to-end in-house searches, particularly for technical research or academic roles.
  • Experience building hiring infrastructure, onboarding processes, or performance management systems.
  • Experience with international employment via PEO/EOR.
  • Strong ability to work with funnel data and provide honest reporting on process effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive personnel matters with discretion and empathy.
  • Familiarity with the AI research or nonprofit ecosystem.
  • Ability to maintain at least 4 hours of overlap with PST working hours.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and guide the People team, including recruiters, talent scout, people operations associate, and events lead.
  • Scale hiring and people systems to support the organization's growth from 30 to 70 people.
  • Oversee the full candidate and hiring manager experience, reporting on funnel metrics like time-to-hire and offer-accept rates.
  • Advise leadership on organizational design, leveling, performance reviews, and sensitive personnel decisions.
  • Manage HR administration, including benefits, payroll, compliance, and employment contracts across jurisdictions.
  • Oversee the events function, setting goals and shaping the calendar as the organization grows.
  • Steward organizational culture, handbook policies, and internal feedback processes.
