Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active bar admission in at least one U.S. state.
  • 3–6 years of experience in compliance, regulatory legal practice, or healthcare-focused legal roles.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, and related compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting audits, investigations, monitoring programs, and compliance operations.
  • Ability to interpret complex regulations and communicate practical recommendations to business teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and sound legal judgment.
  • Comfortable working in fast-changing environments where regulations, products, and business models continue to evolve.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with legal, operational, product, and technical stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create clear documentation and guidance.
  • Preferred experience with CMS programs, Medicare billing requirements, healthcare documentation standards, or healthcare privacy law.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal and regulatory analysis related to healthcare requirements, including HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, privacy regulations, and state healthcare laws.
  • Translate complex regulatory requirements into clear guidance, policies, procedures, and operational recommendations.
  • Partner with compliance leadership to assess regulatory risks and develop strategies that support business goals while maintaining compliance standards.
  • Advise cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, Clinical Operations, Revenue Cycle, and Provider Operations on compliance considerations for new initiatives.
  • Conduct compliance reviews, audits, monitoring activities, and risk assessments, including documentation review and remediation planning.
  • Draft and maintain compliance policies, playbooks, procedures, and training materials aligned with regulatory requirements.
  • Help integrate compliance controls into operational workflows, product processes, and technology systems.
  • Review vendor agreements, business associate agreements, and commercial contracts for healthcare compliance considerations.
  • Support investigations and remediation activities related to potential compliance issues, including privacy, documentation, billing, and operational concerns.
  • Monitor regulatory developments, CMS guidance, and enforcement trends, providing actionable insights to internal stakeholders.
