Requirements
- Software engineering experience with trading or exchange systems (OMS, EMS, exchanges, market making, algorithmic trading, quant trading).
- Lead experience is preferred.
- Proficiency in low and high-level languages including C/C++, Go, Zig, Rust, Java, Scala, or Python.
- Expertise in low latency and high throughput optimization.
- Experience with messaging queues and message brokers.
- Strong knowledge of algorithms, distributed systems, and scalability.
- Strong understanding of databases and concurrency control.
- System design skills with object-oriented data modeling and service-oriented architectures.
- Analytical, data-oriented mindset.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain Alpaca's algo trading platform.
- Design and architect the platform in a small, dynamic team environment.
- Write high-quality code across frontend, backend, and database layers.
- Optimize systems for low latency and high throughput.
- Design robust concurrency systems and abstract distributed system architectures.
- Implement order management systems (OMS) and risk management systems (RMS).
