Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in privacy, data protection, technology law, or regulatory advisory roles.
- Significant in-house experience in a complex, global technology environment.
- Extensive expertise in GDPR, European data protection, U.S. state privacy laws, and Canadian privacy laws.
- Demonstrated ability to serve as a senior privacy leader or Data Protection Officer.
- Practical experience with PIAs, DPIAs, data mapping, transfer mechanisms, and vendor risk management.
- Strong understanding of privacy issues related to AI, biometrics, and identity technologies.
- Track record of building or maturing privacy programs in high-growth, regulated, or enterprise SaaS environments.
- Law degree or equivalent legal/privacy qualification.
- Membership in good standing with a relevant law society or bar is strongly preferred.
- Excellent executive presence and ability to communicate regulatory complexity to business stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Build and lead global privacy and data protection strategy across priority markets and products.
- Serve as the designated Data Protection Officer for Europe, providing advice on GDPR and related obligations.
- Advise executive leadership on privacy risk, regulatory changes, and strategic trade-offs.
- Mature the privacy program, including PIAs, DPIAs, data subject rights, and cross-border transfer mechanisms.
- Partner with Product and Engineering to embed privacy by design into architecture and product development.
- Lead privacy incident readiness, including investigation, breach assessment, and regulatory notification.
- Provide guidance on privacy risks tied to biometrics, AI, identity verification, and fraud prevention.
- Support commercial teams by negotiating DPAs, SCCs, and privacy schedules.
