Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • 2+ years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, LPN, or in a related healthcare coordination role.
  • Experience in pharmacy benefit management (PBM), specialty pharmacy, retail pharmacy, or mail-order pharmacy environments.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy benefit structures, prior authorization processes, and third-party billing practices.
  • Experience assisting patients with financial assistance programs, community resources, or specialty medication access solutions preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, providers, and healthcare stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, solve problems, and meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable using digital tools such as electronic health records, pharmacy platforms, Excel, and CRM systems.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong commitment to confidentiality and compliance with healthcare privacy standards.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key point of contact between patients, providers, pharmacies, and internal pharmacy benefit teams to coordinate alternative medication sourcing solutions.
  • Identify and validate appropriate sourcing options for non-covered, high-cost, specialty, or limited-distribution medications.
  • Assist with cost comparisons, savings analyses, reports, invoices, and documentation related to pharmacy sourcing activities.
  • Track patient cases, outcomes, preferences, and turnaround times within case management systems.
  • Maintain knowledge of alternative pharmacy vendors, pricing models, and available medication access programs.
  • Follow up with pharmacies and providers to ensure prescriptions are processed accurately and delivered on time.
  • Support patients in overcoming medication access challenges and navigating sourcing and delivery processes.
  • Maintain compliance with pharmacy regulations, confidentiality standards, and patient privacy requirements.
