Requirements
- J.D. and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
- 4-7 years of relevant legal experience counseling SaaS companies.
- Ability to deliver high-quality legal analysis and execution across a broad range of product counseling matters.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to technical, business, legal, and executive audiences.
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced environments while balancing competing priorities.
- Creative mindset with the ability to find solutions to complex problems.
- Experience advising software, SaaS, cloud infrastructure, or developer tools companies on open-source software licensing is a bonus.
- Experience using AI tools such as Claude to enhance legal workflow efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Advise Product, Engineering, and other cross-functional stakeholders on legal issues throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Review and assess new products, features, and initiatives, providing timely, business-oriented legal guidance that balances risk management with innovation and execution speed.
- Counsel teams on intellectual property, software licensing, privacy, AI, security, and regulatory considerations affecting company products.
- Develop scalable legal guidance, policies, playbooks, and training materials that empower teams to make informed decisions.
- Partner with commercial, privacy, security, compliance, and corporate legal colleagues to address cross-functional legal issues and drive alignment.
- Monitor emerging legal, regulatory, and industry developments and translate them into actionable guidance.
