Experience
Bachelor's degree with at least 8 years of clinical coding or acute care CDI experience, or High School Diploma/GED with at least 11 years of relevant experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with at least 8 years of clinical coding or acute care CDI experience, or High School Diploma/GED with at least 11 years of relevant experience.
  • RHIA certification, RHIT with CCS certification, or an active Registered Nurse (RN) license with a minimum of 5 years of acute care experience.
  • At least 5 years of Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of inpatient coding experience.
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS coding, DRG methodologies, clinical documentation, healthcare reimbursement, and revenue cycle management.
  • Familiarity with risk-adjusted methodologies, utilization management processes, population health initiatives, and healthcare quality measures.
  • Ability to interpret regulatory guidance and coding updates to develop accurate educational content.
  • Excellent written communication, collaboration, organizational, and presentation skills.
  • Master's degree in Health Information Management, Nursing, or a related healthcare discipline is considered an asset.
  • Previous consulting or leadership experience within CDI, coding, or Health Information Management in acute care hospital settings is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance educational materials and training resources related to clinical documentation integrity, inpatient coding, and healthcare compliance.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on CDI, inpatient coding, DRG methodologies, risk adjustment, quality indicators, utilization management, population health, and coding compliance.
  • Collaborate with technical writing, coding, and clinical teams to create, review, and update high-quality content and documentation.
  • Coordinate and manage recurring educational programs, including scheduling sessions, preparing presentation materials, supporting speakers, and facilitating virtual events.
  • Partner with internal teams and external customers to deliver educational support and promote best practices in clinical documentation and coding.
  • Analyze coding guideline updates, regulatory changes, and industry publications to ensure learning materials remain accurate and current.
  • Ensure all assigned work complies with internal policies, procedures, and security standards.
