Requirements
- Graduate degree or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 7-10 years experience in research organizations or environments (university, policy, advocacy, government).
- Expertise in participatory research methods.
- Subject-matter expertise in K-12 education, labor, faith groups, or similar civic pillars related to AI.
- Strong track record of seeing research through to publication.
- Ability to connect with non-academic audiences via writing and speaking.
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with colleagues to achieve outcomes.
- Ability to coordinate and conduct in-depth qualitative research.
- Strong organizational, analytic, and writing skills.
- Familiarity with academic literature in their discipline.
- Comfort with a fast-paced work environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead collaborative relationships with anchor partners and local constituents for co-creation of AI Civics resources.
- Utilize participatory action research methods to cultivate and steward relationships with community leaders and allied organizations.
- Co-develop and direct the iterative improvement of toolkits, facilitation guides, and training curricula.
- Produce case studies, educational materials, templates, reports, and academic publications.
- Partner with the Program Director on facilitation for co-design workshops and train-the-trainer sessions.
- Drive programmatic research questions and strategies in collaboration with the Program Director.
- Coordinate internal teams to produce public outputs and participate in the broader research culture at Data & Society.
- Assist with partner network communications and participate in fundraising efforts.
