Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, or related field.
- Relevant professional experience: 10+ years (BS), 8+ years (MS), or 5+ years (PhD).
- Expertise in Python and at least one compiled language (Rust, Java, C++, or C#).
- Advanced knowledge of cloud computing infrastructure design for high-performance computing (AWS preferred).
- Demonstrated experience setting long-term technical strategy and architectural standards.
- Experience designing data integration patterns and contracts between software systems.
- Strong command of agile development practices, Jira, Git, and modern CI/CD.
- Exposure to life sciences, DNA sequencing, bioinformatics, or quantitative genetics.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Preferred: Knowledge of regulated software standards (IEC 62304, ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, ISO 14971).
Responsibilities
- Set long-term technical strategy and architectural vision for bioinformatics pipeline systems.
- Lead system architecture and high-stakes design reviews.
- Establish engineering best practices and SDLC standards for regulated software.
- Architect and own the DevOps strategy, including CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to translate strategy into technical plans.
- Mentor and develop staff and senior engineers.
