Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; relevant professional certification combined with extensive ophthalmic experience may be considered as an alternative.
- 3+ years of outside sales experience with a demonstrated history of achieving strong sales results, preferably within the eye health or medical device industry.
- Prior surgical experience or familiarity with operating room environments is preferred.
- Ability to understand customer needs, recommend tailored solutions, and drive commercial growth within an assigned territory.
- Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, negotiation, and teamwork skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and consultative selling abilities.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and plan effectively.
- Analytical mindset with financial awareness and the ability to evaluate territory performance.
- Ability to work independently in a remote field-based environment with frequent customer interaction.
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 25–50% overnight depending on territory requirements.
- Valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets company standards.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the role, including extended driving, lifting product samples, air and vehicle travel, and prolonged standing during presentations or clinical support activities.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned healthcare accounts, supporting customers with surgical product information, troubleshooting, and solution guidance.
- Build strong relationships with ophthalmologists, surgeons, and operating room teams to increase awareness and adoption of surgical technologies.
- Coordinate product evaluations and surgical demonstrations while supporting physicians during procedures and addressing questions as needed.
- Educate healthcare professionals and clinical staff on appropriate product usage, features, and best practices.
- Achieve or exceed territory sales objectives through strategic account planning, customer engagement, and effective sales execution.
- Collaborate with regional sales colleagues and internal teams to strengthen customer support and business development efforts.
- Maintain accurate territory records, manage expenses, samples, and product consignments according to company guidelines.
