Requirements
- 8+ years of relevant software development experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages.
- 2+ years of production experience in full-stack web development, including React, JavaScript/TypeScript, React Native, and Python.
- Deep familiarity with our tech stack (React, Python, Django, Flask, GraphQL, PostgreSQL) or a directly comparable one.
- Demonstrated ability to decompose ambiguous problems into component parts and deliver technical solutions.
- Track record of writing technical plans (tech specs/RFCs) that hold up under cross-functional scrutiny.
- Experience building and maintaining GraphQL and/or REST APIs.
- Experience scaling relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and writing performant queries.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally and partner with product, design, and other engineering teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for alignment with stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring and effectively working with a distributed development team.
- Experience leading and architecting large-scale projects as a technical thought leader.
Responsibilities
- Lead full-stack product development with a slight lean towards the backend.
- Build and maintain GraphQL APIs powered by Python services (Django, Flask).
- Implement web and mobile user experiences using React & React Native.
- Engineer efficient and reusable systems that drive complex web and mobile applications.
- Maintain HIPAA and GDPR compliance and general security best practices.
- Independently write and execute technical plans (tech specs/RFCs) for large, cross-domain projects.
- Serve as the directly responsible individual from engineering on roadmap commitments and launch timelines.
- Mentor other engineers to scale impact across the engineering department.
- Participate in on-call rotations, driving investigation, remediation, and process improvements.
