Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in remote medical interpreting.
- 40+ hours of interpreter training (e.g., Bridging the Gap or equivalent).
- Medical interpretation certification (e.g., CMI, CHI) preferred.
- Documented fluency in English and Chuukese.
- Understanding of the NCIHC Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
- Experience serving individuals from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
- HIPAA-compliant home workspace with desk and privacy.
- Dedicated, high-speed wired internet connection (no Wi-Fi) with at least 10 Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload.
- Ability to use company-provided laptop (Windows 10+, 8GB RAM) and wired USB headset.
Responsibilities
- Interpret accurately and completely between source and target language for hospitals, clinics, and other facilities nationwide.
- Ensure full comprehension by adjusting register as needed for the LEP patient.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and professional standards.
- Adhere to Equiti’s quality policy and promote excellent customer service to clients and patients.
- Establish and maintain positive, professional interactions with all users.
- Act as a cultural broker when needed to clarify cultural nuances or misunderstandings.
- Demonstrate camera awareness during VRI sessions, ensuring proper posture, voice projection, and presence.
- Maintain required certifications and continue professional development.
- Adapt to changing technology, platforms, and protocols as needed.
