Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience originating commercial lending, private credit, or specialty finance transactions.
  • Proven track record of originating loans or financing opportunities in the $5 million to $50 million range.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate a high volume of qualified opportunities and execute successful term sheets.
  • Established network of borrower, sponsor, intermediary, and banking relationships.
  • Strong understanding of credit structures, collateral evaluation, loan documentation, and commercial finance processes.
  • Experience structuring financing solutions and negotiating complex transactions.
  • Excellent relationship management, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to independently manage a pipeline while collaborating effectively with underwriting and investment teams.
  • Strong commercial judgment with the ability to evaluate opportunities and align them with investment objectives.
  • Experience in one or more areas such as direct lending, private credit, asset-based lending, specialty finance, commercial banking, or structured finance.

Responsibilities

  • Source new lending opportunities through direct outreach, existing relationships, and referral networks.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with borrowers, investment banks, commercial banks, private equity sponsors, consultants, accountants, attorneys, and other market participants.
  • Lead initial borrower conversations to assess strategic fit, financing needs, and potential opportunities.
  • Develop tailored financing solutions that balance borrower objectives with investment strategy requirements.
  • Structure and negotiate indicative terms, letters of intent, and term sheets.
  • Maintain a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities and provide accurate forecasting of potential transactions.
  • Drive lending opportunities from initial sourcing through executed term sheets while ensuring a smooth transition to investment and underwriting teams.
  • Establish long-term relationships that generate repeat business, referrals, and market credibility.
  • Collaborate closely with investment professionals, underwriting teams, and portfolio management teams throughout the transaction lifecycle.
  • Identify market trends, emerging opportunities, and strategic opportunities to expand lending activities.
